Yes, I have served on a jury.  I was always worried about serving on a jury fearing I would get some major murder case.  As it was it just a benign stolen car case.  The hardest thing, after a guilty verdict, was deciding what the car was worth to give as damages to the owner of the car.  As a side note though, I was jury foreperson.  It was interesting having eleven other people think that you were the most competent person in the room to make sure things went smoothly and such.

OMG, I cannot believe it.  I live in Northern Western Washington State where we may get one, maybe two days of 90 degree weather for the whole summer.  We have had two weeks straight of 80 degree weather.  Monday and Tuesday were 90's and when I came home today it was 102!!!!!!  O_O  I just can't take the heat.  And at work it is so humid I think it is going to rain inside the store.  And we still have August to get through yet.  I don't want to think about what the weather is going to be like.

*is melting into a puddle as I write this*

Watching


He watches them from the doorway, silent, the woman and the child asleep on the bed.  He feels an overwhelming need to protect them, though he has a feeling the woman would object to his over-protectiveness.

But he can’t help himself.  It has been so long since he has had a family, so long since he has loved someone so much that he wanted to have a family.

He moves from the doorway to the bedside.  The woman’s eyes open drifting up until they meets his.

“Hey, Spaceman.”  She gives him a sleepy smile.

He smiles back.  “Hey, Earthgirl.”  He lays down on the bed behind the woman wrapping his arms around her and their infant daughter still sleeping within the protective embrace of her mother.

“Is something wrong?” Donna asks him.

“No,” he answers her “everything is just right.”

Sylvia stares at her daughter standing next to that man, that *alien*.  She doesn’t understand what she sees in him.   Skinny, no job that she knows of, and he seems to only have one suit.  What does she see in him. 

For the answer she only has to look at her daughter’s face.  She has never seen Donna so happy.  Even with Lance, the man she was at one time supposed to marry.    But there is something else.  A knowledge that she is where she wants to be, where she is supposed to be. 

She knows that she should be happy for her daughter but she can’t help being envious of her.  She has a man who obviously loves her, she is doing something that she loves and, as she watches the Doctor lovingly caress Donna’s ever growing belly, it seems now a family. 

Sylvia knows Donna’s father loved her but he never looked at her like the Doctor looks at Donna; his whole world revolves around her daughter and the tiny being she carries within her. 

“Mum, is something wrong?” Donna’s question breaks into Sylvia’s musings.

“No, just thinking.”  Sylvia smiles at her daughter and the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with and thinks that maybe, by the time her first grandchild is born, she will be able to finally tell her daughter how proud she is of her.

A/N:I got as close as I could to 100.  Couldn't get it right the first time.


    He watches her from across the room.  She is sitting at a table with friends laughing.  He knows he should not be here but he can’t help himself.  He is drawn to her like the proverbial moth to the flame.  Has always been.  From the moment he first met her he felt the connection, a bond which drew them together not once but twice.     
    He drains the glass in front of him and stands to leave risking one last glance before he exits the pub.  It will have to serve him until the next time.
    And he knows there will be a next time.

I went outside this morning to move my truck so that the delivery guys can finally deliver my new washer and dryer and saw that the temperature was 7, that's 7 degrees.  I have lived in Washington all but 6 months of my 44 years and I don't think I can remember it ever being this cold where I live.  Not only is it cold but we have a foot of snow on the ground.  And it has been there for a week.  The forecast is to get up to nine inches more today and tomorrow.  Usually if we get snow it's 1-3 inches and it is gone a day or two later.  The temperature has not been above freezing for a week as well hence the reason the snow is sticking around.  It is not supposed to get above freezing till Thursday or so.  I love the snow but don't like this freezing cold.  And a temperature closer to zero than 32, well... the less said about that the better.

So, enough about the snow.  I will be glad to see this year come to an end.  It has not been a good one for me health wise.  I used to never get sick.  My last job I was there 14.5 years and you can count on one hand the times I called in sick or went home sick.  Just this past year you would need both your hands.
I have been having tests to see as to why I am having pains in my right leg, right side of my abdomen and around my back for the past 3 months.  I had a pelvic ultra sound Wednesday and have a doctor's appointment on Monday to hear the results of that and a blood test I had as well.
I have to say I am really nervous.  There are too many things that can be wrong that start with the letter C.  I am hoping that by thinking about the worst I will actually be surprised and it will be something benign like cysts.  Oh well, time will tell.

So, I am new to this lj stuff.  I only opened up an account so I could comment on someone's fanfic.  But I decided to post an entry just to get my feet wet.  No one will probably read it anyway.

I guess I could start off my asking a question.  I would like to give credit for the icons that I use but don't know how.  If anyone does read this maybe they can help me with that.  As I said I am new and have absolutely no idea what I am doing.
